Our Origins: An 1800s Warwickshire Farmstead
The core of Kings Court Hotel dates back to the early 19th century, when the main building served as a traditional farmstead and manor barn in the heart of rural Warwickshire. Constructed from local red brick and oak timbers, the farm was a hub of agricultural life for the surrounding fields of Kings Coughton.
If you look closely at the architecture in our restaurant and public lounge areas, you can still see the original wooden beams and structural brick arches that supported the farm buildings nearly 200 years ago.
The Evolution: Becoming a Stately Residence
As Alcester grew and transport links improved, the farmstead was converted into a private residential estate. Walled gardens were built to provide privacy, and the main house was expanded to include elegant Victorian and Georgian architectural features. The property was known for its beautiful courtyard layout, which remains the physical and social heart of the hotel today.
Kings Court Today: A Modern Countryside Escape
In the late 20th century, the private residence was lovingly converted into a hotel. Great care was taken to preserve the historic character of the buildings while introducing the modern comforts that contemporary travellers expect. Today, the hotel offers:
